Suzanne chose to integrate community history into her advanced art class by asking her students to research, design, and paint a mural depicting the Heights at the turn of the century. From books, photographs, and a visit from lifelong Heights resident, Clayton Lee, her students gathered information on the architecture, transportation, and fashions of the period. Each student then created a sketch, which was projected on to a wall at Hogg and became one part of the whole mural. At last, with some creativity and a lot of paint, Suzanne and her students completed the mural, a beautiful addition to Hogg Middle School's interior.
